Zambia has been characterised as a nation of peace. Despite being in an area where both neighbouring countries have had unrest, Mwinilunga residents enjoy intertribal harmony, and political stability.

A rich cultural history exists among the people. This is reflected in the general way of life, and is showcased in annual local ceremonies. The Chisemwa cha Lunda ceremony is already a growing attraction with many visitors each year.

In addition to these there are many ceremonies that take place to mark the coming of age of young boys andgirls which are colourful and vibrant community gatherings.

Local handcrafts include beautiful baskets, reed mats and cane chairs are available. These are woven from indigenous materials.

Training & Development

A major effort has been made to train game scouts in order to address the issue of the depletion of wildlife in the province. 24 trained and equipped game scouts are now conducting patrols regularly and permanent transect lines have been established for counting game. This has been a source of encouragement as numbers of game have risen as a result of the patrols.
